Map & How to Get Here

Parking

A Visitor Car Park is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Visitors parking here will receive a ticket at the point of entry and need to pay £6.50 for the day at a pay-station located at the rear of the car park. Please note that the pay-stations only accept card payments – no cash payments are accepted. Visitors can use any credit/debit cards (except for American Express), or Apple or Android Pay.

Parking is free to blue badge holders. Please use the intercom at the exit barrier to verify your blue badge permit. Disabled parking is also available at the front of the Museum, on Gorsedd Gardens Road.

Eat, Drink, Shopping

  • The restaurant is open weekends and bank holidays and we offer a range of drinks and snacks at the Museum’s café on the ground floor.
  • The Museum shop will be open during your visit.

What you will see when you visit

Your experience at National Museum Cardiff will be different from what we can normally offer, but we hope you enjoy:

  • Visiting our Evolution of Wales and Natural Science galleries on the ground floor
  • On the first floor, you’ll find the fantastic historic art galleries are open for visiting. Here you’ll see work by Botticelli, Richard Wilson and Rembrandt

What you won’t see when you visit

Due to ongoing essential maintenance to some of our galleries, we have had to change what we do and some of our art galleries remain CLOSED. Please get in touch. To save disappointment, you can explore the art galleries in full online to see if a particular piece of artwork is on display ahead of your visit.

The Clore Learning Centre is now only available for pre-booked schools and community organisations as we continue to look for different ways to use our spaces. Find out more

Can I bring my dog?

National Museum Cardiff is happy to welcome properly trained assistance dogs, but we do not allow any other animals into the museum buildings.

Accessibility

If you prefer to visit when we’re less crowded, there are usually fewer people on our site from 3pm each day.
